B.S. in Exercise Science
MY MAJOR
I am currently on track to graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Pre - Physical Therapy Exercise Science and a certificate in personal training at IUPUI. The coursework for this degree has provided me with a detailed and genuine understanding of the human body and has prepared me for my future in the medical field, and more specifically as a physical therapist. I love learning about the body and how it works, along with all the other valuable knowledge I have gained so far.

MY CAREER GOALS
There are numerous reasons physical therapy has drawn my undivided interest over the years. In high school, I decided to take a sports medicine class because I had always been involved with sports and I heard the teacher was cool. In that class, we had a physical therapist come in and discuss his experiences in physical therapy and what he does on a day-to-day basis. After hearing him talk about physical therapy, I decided to do some research. I was able to discover that the values of physical therapy align perfectly with my own personal values and I have been intrigued with the field ever since.
One of the things I enjoy about physical therapy is the bigger role I can play outside of treating a patient. I enjoy being able to work one-on-one and creating a strong doctor-patient bond. I also love the flexibility of the field and the individualized approach I can have. Being an athlete my whole life, I have encountered a couple injuries that have had different healing processes with different exercise prescriptions to reach a full recovery. This showed me that there is not always one exact way to solve a problem and I am able to develop what I think is the best way to fix someone while considering their situation. Furthermore, I have always been fascinated by the human body. I find it fascinating that such a minor change can cause such a major impact. I want to figure out new ways to help patients recover from injury as well as maintain high levels of physical fitness.
Physical therapy is an occupation that is constantly changing, and a physical therapist is continually learning. I have learned plenty of important lessons that can directly relate to physical therapy, and there will always be more to learn as I continue my education and gather even more experience.
